The North Texas craft brewery scene has grown to over 50 breweries. We reviewed TABC brewery applications to visualize growth by year, starting with the first craft brewery in North Texas in 2004, ending with the addition of 11 new breweries in Dallas/Fort Worth and surrounding counties in 2019.

2004

Rahr & Sons Brewery was the first North Texas craft brewery to open its doors in Fort Worth.

2008

Franconia Brewing opened in Collin county, marking the 2nd craft brewery in North Texas.

2011

It was seven years after the first North Texas Craft brewery that the rapid growth of breweries began. Fort Brewery (now Fort Brewery and Pizza) opened in Fort Worth. Deep Ellum and Peticolas opened in Dallas, and Revolver opened its doors in Granbury

2012

Four additional breweries opened, Community Beer and Four Corners Brewing in Dallas, and Martin House Brewing and Lakewood Brewing in Fort Worth.

2013

The third consecutiy year with multiple new breweries opened. Shannon Brewing in Keller, and Grapevine Craft Brewry in Grapevine.

2014

Craft Beer exploded in North Texas in 2014, growing over 50% in a single year with eight new brewries opening. Fort Worth had three new brewries, The Collective Brewing, Bearded Eel, and Panther Island. On Rotation and Texas Ale Project opened in Dallas, and Bitter Sisters, Four Bullets, Nine Band rounded out 2014, bringing the total number of North Texas Craft Breweries to 21.

2015

The momentum continued with seven new breweries, breaking out of Dallas and Fort Worth across the rest of North Texas. Braindead, Division, Noble Rey, 3 Nations, Oak Highlands, Tupps, Wild Acre and Woodcreek all opened.

2016

Five new breweries opened, Hemisphere Brewing and Thirsty Bro in Rockwall county, Hop Fusion and Legal Draft in Tarrant county, and Manhattan Project in Dallas.

2017

Slower than the previous year, Dirty Job and New Main opened in Tarrant County. Pegasus City opened in Dallas, and Hop and Sting opened, taking over operations for Grapevine Brewing.

2018

Rapid growth began again, with seven new breweries. Three new breweries in Dallas, Celestial, Oak Cliff and Outfit. Cowtown opened in Fort Worth, and Turning Point opened in Bedford. Edgewise Eight and Railport opened in Weatherford and Waxahachie.

2019

This year was the biggest year for growth brewery growth in North Texas Craft, with 11 new breweries opening. Tarrant County had the greatest growth, with five new breweries : Brutal Beerworks in North Richland Hills, Happy Hippie, Toasty Bros and Trinity Forest in Grapevine, and Su Ti Spirits in Kennedale. Odd Muse and Westlake opened in Dallas county. Pathfinder and Walking Beam opened west of DFW, and Rollertown and Siren Rock opened to the Northeast.
